What to Do With Kids in Phnom Penh – 7 Awesome Activities

If you don’t know us yet, we don’t have any kids, but many of our friends do. And one of their biggest struggles when traveling is figuring out what to do with kids in Phnom Penh that they’ll actually enjoy! Not just the kids, but the parents too!

Yet, virtually every guide online includes the most boring activities ever! “Go visit this temple… go to this museum… go to this restaurant.”

THAT’S NOT WHAT KIDS WANT TO DO!

While those activities are great for parents, kids get bored quickly — especially younger ones who don’t understand history or architecture the same way adults do.

So, in today’s guide, we’ve compiled phnom penh kids activities that really keep energy levels high and smiles wide. Even if you don’t have kids, these will make you feel young at heart again!

Is Phnom Penh Worth Visiting With Kids?

Yes — Phnom Penh is definitely worth visiting with kids! The city has grown into a family-friendly destination offering indoor and outdoor adventures suitable for all ages. From water parks and climbing gyms to arcades, cat cafés, and open play spaces, there’s far more than just temples and museums. Phnom Penh is affordable, safe when planned well, and provides plenty of fun activities to help kids burn energy while parents relax and enjoy the experience too.

1. Dinosaur Alive – perfect as a museum alternative

We start off with an activity that is aimed at entertaining kids. However, we found the exhibits and rides to be a ton of fun ourselves.

Dinosaur Alive is an amusement park located on Koh Pich Island just outside of Phnom Penh. It is easily reachable by tuk-tuk, remorque, bike, and car.

The tickets are $5 for children and $8 for adults. Children under 0.9m can enter for free. The park is open every day between 9 am and 7 pm.

Okay, so what makes it so incredibly fun? This park is filled with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, fun carnival rides, bumper cars, paddle boat rides, and loads more!

And even better yet, it’s full of incredibly fun photo opportunities as seen below!

They also have a small restaurant and cafe on the premises right next to a play area.

Again, this may seem like it’s best for young kids, but we enjoyed the heck out of this park. There is so much to see, the rides don’t have an age limit on them, and you can really feel like a kid again.

2. Phnom Fly – activity for kids with loads of energy!

Trampoline park? Yes, please! And this particular one is located at Factory, a work-and-play space with LOADS TO DO.

This trampoline park offers basketball hoops, a dodgeball court, an obstacle course, and many other fun spaces. They even have a Velcro wall! (Full disclosure, I don’t know how often they wash those suits. They were pretty stinky when we wanted to try them.)

You can book in advance on their website, but we’ve never seen them super busy, so you should always be able to get tickets.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for kids for a 1-hour session (trust me, it’s enough). You have to buy trampoline socks for $2 per pair. You can keep them and use them at other trampoline parks in the future. They are also open every day of the week from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 6 pm on weekends.

Now, the other great thing about Phnom Fly is that it’s located in FACTORY. I’m not sure what to call it, but it offers a lot. It has a gym, a co-working space, restaurants, stalls, an art gallery, a skateboard park, a games room, and some retail shops. And, on the weekends, they usually have food festivals or markets as well.

So, it’s a great way to really fill up your entire day without having to leave the space at all.

3. Garden City Water Park – ideal for escaping the hot season

Just a short drive from central Phnom Penh, Garden City Water Park is the ultimate spot for a fun-filled day. As Cambodia’s largest water park, it’s packed with exciting attractions.

From high-speed slides like the Boomerango and Rocket Freefall to gentle wave pools and a relaxing lazy river, there’s really something for everyone!

Families love the kids’ play zones, while thrill-seekers can chase adrenaline on the big rides. With great food options, shaded lounges, and plenty of lifeguards, it’s an easy place to spend the whole day laughing, splashing, and cooling off under the sun.

4. Le Club – hands-down our favorite thing to do with kids (and by ourselves)

Okay, full disclosure, we will ALWAYS advocate for rock climbing. It’s a sport we personally participate in, and it is a fun activity for the kids to do as well. And the best part: ANYONE CAN DO IT!

There are so many levels to do. So no matter what your fitness level is, you’ll still be able to have fun, get in a bit of exercise, and feel an incredible sense of accomplishment.

Now, there is a “rock climbing wall” that recently opened up in a mall as well. We haven’t taken a look at it yet, but from what we’ve heard (from fellow rock climbers), it’s a baby wall. It’s great for kids, but it doesn’t offer as much variety.

And again, we are definitely being biased in supporting our favorite gym, but to be honest, Le Club is the best option out there that offers international-quality climbing. So, it is what it is.

A day pass will only set you back $5. You can rent rock climbing shoes for an additional fee. Before you start, one of the VERY friendly staff members will guide you and your kids through the rules and show you a few climbing techniques and tips.

The day pass is exactly what it says, a DAY pass. So, you can literally spend the entire day there. And, on the very top floor, there’s an amazing cafe with drinks, savory, and sweet snacks!

5. Arcade – best before-dinner activity

There are two major types of arcades we’d recommend in Phnom Penh.

First, it’s Dream Games, located in Aeon Mall. There are two locations: Aeon Mall Phnom Penh and Aeon Mall Sen Sok. Choose the mall that is closest to you. They are pretty much the same in every way.

Dream Games has a very old-school arcade feel to it. They offer a ton of games that could keep you busy for hours. And even better, they are always located near the food court, cinema, and bowling alley.

Then, there is another arcade option in Phnom Penh called Neo Game Oasis. They are located in Chip Mong malls. These arcades are modernized. The work is a card that you load “tokens” onto. As you play, your “tickets” (rewards) are also stored on the card. They are valid for 6 months. The prizes, in my opinion, are also a lot more worth the effort.

The games are very different from your traditional options. Sure, you’ll still find air hockey, skeeball, and basketball hoops. But you’ll also find virtual reality experiences and more realistic 4-D racing games.

Now, which is better? It depends on your preference and what you are willing to spend. The Neo Game Oasis tokens are definitely more expensive, and I feel like you don’t get rewarded as handsomely. But, it’s still a VERY cool experience if you’ve never seen something like it before.

6. Bowling – fun for older kids

Aeon Mall also offers bowling alleys that are quite reasonably priced. It’s very clean, you can order food and drinks, and it’s a fun activity to do before or after seeing a movie.

If you want to find the closest bowling alley to you, you can type in Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl.

7. Euro Park – ideal for a short day trip with the kids

Okay, this may not be as physical as some of the previously mentioned activities for kids. But it’s still loads of fun and a wonderful way to spend the day.

Euro Park is a complex of miniature versions of famous buildings not only from Europe but also from other countries in the world. This includes the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Sydney Opera House, and more. What makes these fun is that you can even climb in some of them!

They also have the famous water canals of Venice, where you can take a quick and affordable boat ride.

If you’re feeling snacky, they have a variety of international restaurants that will truly make you feel like you’re in a completely different part of the world.

Entrance is completely free, and you virtually only pay for transport there and food (if you have any).
