Why I Started A Blog About Travel In Cambodia

Hi, I’m Lindy 👋

I started this blog after moving to Phnom Penh and realizing that a lot of the information online about travel in Cambodia just… wasn’t it. So much of it felt rushed, outdated, or written by someone who spent a week here and called it “immersive.” And while that’s fine, it didn’t help much when it came to actually getting around. Or settling in and understanding what life in Cambodia is really like!

What was meant to be a short trip quickly turned into something much bigger. After just a few weeks here, my husband Jono and I completely fell in love with the country! We didn’t plan on staying, but here we are. Four years later, I’m still living in Phnom Penh, still exploring, and still discovering new places and stories that make me want to keep sharing what traveling in Cambodia is actually like.

The Goal Of This Blog

This blog is all about honest, practical travel in this beautiful country. I share real experiences, local activities, culture, and those “how did we not know about this sooner?” spots that don’t always show up in guidebooks. A big focus is on affordable, realistic experiences, because you don’t need a big budget to enjoy exploring Cambodia properly.

I’m not into luxury travel, but I’m also not pretending I sleep in hostels. When I say we “backpack,” I mean we live out of backpacks but still enjoy comfy hotels and experiences that are genuinely worth the time and money. It’s realistic Cambodia travel—practical, flexible, and based on how people actually move around the country.

If you’re planning a trip, thinking about staying longer, or just curious about Cambodia beyond the clichés, you’re in the right place. Let’s explore travel Cambodia one tuk-tuk ride at a time.
